As you recall, in November 2013, Santander Universities signed an agreement with the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE, an initiative of Qatar Foundation). With this cooperation, we support the creation of the Wise Education Accelerator Fund, the development of the Learners’ Voice Program and grants us the category of Premium Sponsor of its annual Summit in Doha.
Qatar Foundation, under the leadership of its Chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser established the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in 2009. WISE is an international, multi-sectoral platform for creative thinking, debate and purposeful action. WISE has established itself as a global reference in new approaches to education.
Through both the annual Summit <http://wise-qatar.org/summit> and a range of ongoing programs<http://www.wise-qatar.org/what-we-do> WISE is promoting innovation and building the future of education through collaboration.
The objective of the WISE Learners’ Voice Program is to bring the voice of young people to the challenge of rethinking education, and equips them to take on leading roles in their fields and in the world of education. The Program is based on the conviction that when learners are co-creators of their learning environments they become active participants, invested collectively as stakeholders in the progress of their communities. The Program focuses on building their knowledge of education and social entrepreneurship, as well as their leadership and communication skills.
The Learners’ Voice Program is a year-long program consisting of 2 residential sessions, online and on-site activities, and the development of group projects seeking innovative solutions to pressing educational issue. The residential sessions take place in Doha, in early January, and Madrid (Santander Financial City) in June. We count on top partner universities to develop the cv of the program: Babson College for the Social Entrepreneurship module, Yale University (Yale World Fellows) for the Leadership Module, among others. This program is compatible with their university studies.
WISE is seeking, for the 2015-16 edition, a new group of outstanding young learners aged 18 to 25 to join this growing global community. The learners can apply or be nominated to take part in the Program. The selected group will participate in a series of activities throughout the year, beginning with the WISE Pre-Summit and Summit event in Doha, November 1-5, 2015.
They will continue their engagement in the year-long Program throughout 2016.
WISE – Qatar Foundation will cover all Program-related costs, including air fares and accommodation of the selected participants. Participants’ selection is entirely WISE’s team duty.
The global call for applications is now open and will run until 18.00 GMT on April 30, 2015. Application and nomination forms can be completed online at www.wise-qatar.org<http://www.wise-qatar.org> and must be submitted via the online platform.
I invite you to encourage partner universities to distribute this info among their student community. It’s an incomparable opportunity!
